A BRIEF HISTORY OF BUENAVISTA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
The vision of establishing Buenavista High School was realized on March 15, 2005 through the initiative of Barangay Captain Herminio Delos Santos along with the barangay council and Mr. Gil C. Agravante former principal of Buenavista Elementary School. A resolution was drafted by the proponents and submitted it to the Local Government Unit of Tinambac. It was endorsed by the Local Government Unit of Tinambac to Deped Camarines Sur and was forwarded to the Department of Education Regional Office aapproval. The school was approved and named originally as Integrated Agro-Fisheries High School. It was considered to be a school of fisheries because Buenavista is located near the sea and fishing is one of the main sources of income of the populace.
The school formally opened and enrolled students from Buenavista Elementary School, Union Elementary School and Magtang Elementary School. Students were encouraged to enroll for free. There were total enrollees of fifty-five students its first school year. There were only two eligible teachers, Miss Nerissa S. Pili and Miss Jasmine Brugada under the supervision of Mrs. Maribel H. Vivero.
The opening school year had various challenges, such as the lack of school site and building that will serve as classroom of the first group of enrollees. The school provisionally used one of the classrooms in Buenavista Elementary School, immediately the Barangay Council initiated to purchase 1.125 hectare of land amounting to seventy thousand pesos. The school head worked out the documents of the school site and immediately a resolution was agreed by the body requesting the construction of a school building from Hon. L-Ray Villafuerte Governor of the Province of Camarines Sur. Two classroom building was constructed where the students held classes, tables and chairs were also offered by the barangay council to be used by the students. Heavy equipment from the LGU of Tinambac were used to remove the huge trees and stones in the school ground. The PTCA under the leadership of Mr. Jovito Cardano asked the members to hold a rabus in clearing the area. Mayor Rosito Velarde offered 2 sacks of rice for the food of the parents. The school head of the Mother school Don Servillano Platon Memorial High School gave copies of their extra books, bond paper and other school supplies. Kagawad Emmanuel S. Picaso of the Sangguniang Bayan of Tinambac extended instructional assistance and an electric fan from kagawad Lodmila Tordilla.
In its second year of operation, there were fifty-five first year and forty second year students under the supervision of three teachers funded by the Provincial Government, the LGU and the PTCA, Mrs. Lilia R. Nacario of Don Servillano Platon Memorial High School was installed as Teacher-in-Charge.
